The Ninth Anniversary of the War in Ukraine / Dutch translation / PDF
Published: February 28, 2023 In: New World Economy By: Jeffrey Sachs

Note: On July 17, 2014, five months after the start of the war between Ukraine and Russia, an aircraft that took off from Schiphol, despite the war, flew over Ukraine, across Donetsk, until today a hotbed in the Ukraine war. The aircraft, the MH17, was shot to pieces by a BUK missile, when flying over Donetsk, Ukraine. The space above is also Ukrainian area. A total of 298 people died. There were no survivors.

Question 1: Why did the new, pro-American, Ukrainian government not warn the Netherlands, an EU member state, a NATO member state, of the extreme danger of flying over a war zone, Donetsk, in which buks were used by both Ukrainians and Ukrainian pro-Russia separatists? [Buks were already present on Ukrainian territory far before 2014[Bellingcat][see also: Bellingcat].

Question 2: Who is/are primarily responsible for the downing of MH17?
Apparently—and one can say that this is highly remarkable and dangerously sloppy—no briefing took place from (US/NATO) Kyiv, Ukraine with the countries outside Ukraine, in Europe, and therefore not with the Netherlands either, otherwise this catastrophe would never have happened. It can be assumed with certainty that the danger of a plane crash in Kyiv was known, all the more so because the country was – and is – being informed, supported and coached by the USA /NATO. USA controls everything, has informers and supervisors. It is therefore obvious that the Ukrainian government was fully aware of the war in Donetsk and of real and life-threatening dangers to air traffic in the airspace above Donetsk. When will people in Europe, in the Netherlands, become aware of the liability, of the unforgivable negligence of Ukraine and the USA in this? Can the withholding of information, the omission of warnings, resulting in such a disaster, be regarded as a war crime, committed in this case by the USA and Ukraine?

MORE BACKGROUND INFORMATION

On July 17, 2014, I was visiting the Netherlands from Norway, staying at the Ibis hotel in Leiden. From the fifth floor I looked at the station on the right, and the University of Leiden, directly opposite. The other day, the flags at the university were flown at half-mast. That’s why I logged into my laptop: what was going on? The stories in the news were horrific. Words from eyewitnesses who lived in Hrabove, Donetsk oblast, Ukraine, said enough: “Human bodies came falling down from the sky.” [Mensen kwamen uit de lucht vallen]

WIKIPEDIA 2014, 2023

2014

The data of the flight, as it was at the time, when I posted that memorial photo in Flickr (22 July 2014), was displayed in Wikipedia (see also the information on the photo-page on Flickr), so in 2014:

On 17 July 2014 at 12:14 am (CEST), the Boeing 777 departed from Schiphol Airport for a scheduled flight to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Shortly after 2:00 pm (CEST), the aircraft climbed from 31,000 feet (9,450 meters) to 33,000 feet (10,060 meters) as it entered Ukrainian airspace. The airspace over Ukraine was closed to 32,000 feet (9,750 meters), but was opened above that.

The plane disappeared from radar at about 3:18 pm (CEST) east of the Ukrainian city of Donetsk, 50 kilometres from the Russian border. At that time it followed a more northerly route than in the days before. The reason for the deviated route across the conflict zone could have been a significant storm on the originally planned route. The debris of the aircraft was found to be scattered over an area of 35 square kilometres. The tail was 10 kilometres away from other debris, an indication that the plane exploded at a high altitude.

Note: Wikipedia wrote in 2014 about a “conflict zone”, and about a storm. That storm would be the reason to fly higher—not the “conflict zone”—to 33,000 feet. In the 2023 version, Wikipedia does not use the subject “conflict zone” but states that the Russian-Ukrainian war was going on around Donetsk at that time. And: it was a regular-scheduled flight. That too was not mentioned in the 2014 version. So, the subject “conflict zone” has been changed into “war”. Nothing more is written about the storm. Why not, I wonder. Or was the in 2014 mentioned “storm”, when the word “war” was not used yet (why not?), but “conflict zone”, conscious misinformation, to pretend not to know what the situation in Ukraine really was, about the war in Donbas (Donetsk), and because flying higher was therefore safer? Kyiv and the USA knew about the in Ukraine already a long time present BUK missiles: those Russian-made BUK missiles had been in Ukraine already far before 2014[information Bellingcat article 1, article 2]. BUK missiles reach 33,000 feet. More in the following chapter “Questions about liability”, questions 1 and 2.

2023

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (also known as MH17, also referred to as KL4103 under code sharing with KLM) was a scheduled civil aviation service from Amsterdam (Schiphol Airport) to Kuala Lumpur. On July 17, 2014, a Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777-200ER with flight number MH17 crashed near the eastern Ukrainian village of Hrabove in Donetsk Oblast after being hit by a Russian surface-to-air missile. The Russo-Ukrainian War was raging around Donetsk at that time. There were 298 people on board: 283 passengers and fifteen crew members. 196 occupants had Dutch nationality and four had Belgian nationality. There were no survivors. Wikipedia.

Note: One writes about a Russian surface-to-air (BUK) missile. One does not mention that there were already Russian BUK missiles in Ukraine far before 2014 (information Bellingcat article 1, article 2). Those anti-aircraft missiles were not smuggled there from Russia. Before February 2014, the connection between Kyiv and Moscow was friendly. After February 2014, Kyiv was American minded, realised by the American coup d’état of Joe Biden, Victoria Nuland, Jake Sullivan, and Geoffrey Pyatt. Because of that American-controlled government change, Ukraine was split into a pro-American Ukraine and a pro-Russia Ukraine. Pro-Russia Ukrainians were from then suddenly in a war with Kyiv, whereof the most were located in Donbas, Donetsk, but in that same area could also have been pro-American Kyiv-Ukrainian militants. This happened five months before the MH17 was flying over Donetsk. See also: Transcript of an interview with Jeffrey Sachs, PDF, p. 15, see also: video, see also: “The ninth anniversary of the war in Ukraine,” An excerpt:

“US Film director Oliver Stone helps us to understand the US involvement in the coup in his 2016 documentary movie, Ukraine on Fire.  I urge all people to watch it, and to learn what a US-regime change operation looks like.  I also urge all people to read the powerful academic studies by Prof. Ivan Katchanovski of the University of Ottawa (for example, here and here), who has laboriously reviewed all of the evidence of the Maidan and found that most of the violence and killing originated not from Yanukovych’s security detail, as alleged, but from the coup leaders themselves, who fired into the crowds, killing both policemen and demonstrators.”

Note: It is therefore not relevant who fired that BUK, but who was responsible and accaoutable for the safety of the MH17, which flew in the airspace above the war zone. In Ukraine.

QUESTIONS ABOUT ACCOUNTABILITY

Question 1: Why did the new, pro-American, Ukrainian government not warn the Netherlands, an EU member state, a NATO member state, of the extreme danger of flying over a war zone, Donetsk, in which buks were used by both Ukrainians and Ukrainian pro-Russia separatists? [Buks were already present on Ukrainian territory far before 2014[Bellingcat][see also: Bellingcat].Question 2: Who is/are primarily responsible for the downing of MH17?

POINTING THE FINGER AT RUSSIA

When the facts are collected, and through logical thinking, analysis and common sense, has become clear that both the pro-US government in Kyiv and the USA knew about the war in the area over which the MH17 flew, that also the space above the war zone was therefore a war zone. Therefore only one conclusion is possible: that therefore both Ukraine and the USA are responsible and accountable for the downing of MH17.

Pointing the finger at Russia is a cowardly act of trying to cover up the matter. The USA has literally pulled out all the stops to cover things up, create confusion, eliminate truth, lie as if it were printed. I’m not a Russian troll, I’m a truth seeker. With truth comes peace.

Video: CNN’s Chris Cuomo pointing the finger at Russia in discussion with Russia Today host Peter Lavelle. Location Cuomo: Schiphol, Amsterdam, Netherlands, where the plane departed on July 17, 2014. The video was published on July 23, 2014.
